about
This split 7" single was made by Fat Possum as a Birdman/ Fat Possum co-release in 2008, with one artist from each label represented. Under mysterious circumstances the pressing was destroyed by Fat Possum after production was complete and the owner of FP sent me about 75 surviving copies, which I put into my storage space for the last 12 years.
To my knowledge these copies are the only existing copies, about 55 of them being made available for sale now.
With exclusive cover art by Arik Roper. This is the album version of the song 'Calling Lightning pt 2' from Magnificent Fiend.
All existing copies have a little ring wear or spine wear from original transit and storage, where the black ink has rubbed off the spine stock or the jacket has been scuffed a bit. All vinyl is in pristine shape.
A chance to own a completely rare/ obscure HR piece!

Never released by Fat Possum/ Birdman Records in 2008.
Leaning into the sparse, impressionistic sound of 2023's albu "Nature Morte," the Montreal metallurgists sound as heavy and radiant as ever. Bandcamp New & Notable Apr 21, 2024

this definitely feels like a nod to southbay lore - sound is what I'd imagine would happen if Bukowski walked into a Minutemen jam and D Boon passed him the mic. MxDxRx
